Zamfara State Government has suspended its activities indefinitely as part of measures to address the spread of corona virus pandemic in the state.

The state governor, Alhaji Bello Muhammad Matawalle disclosed this during a press conference at Government House Gusau.
The governor also directed for the closure of schools and other public places in the state.
“Activities in the state are hereby suspended until further notice when the tension about the dreaded corona virus is doused,” the governor said.
He said government has procured equipment and sanitizers to sanitize travelers at motor parks so as to detect those who contracted the virus.
Governor Matawalle advised the citizens to sensitize their hands against social interaction, unnecessary handshake and other actions that could cause the spread of the disease.
He said there was no case of COVID-19 in the state, attributing that his administration had put in place measures to contain the virus.
He maintained that the state response team has also been activated, urged people to report those who contracted the virus to health personnel in the state.
According to him, a standing committee is also set up to create awareness, respond to emergencies and disseminate information to the public in the event of an outbreak of the disease.
