In its efforts to fight criminal activities, Zamfara State Government has distributed 8,500 motorcycles estimated to gulf millions of Naira to newly recruited civilian JTF in the state.
The state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Bello Dan Kande Gamji, Walin Bakura, distributed the motorcycles to the civilian JTF in a colourful ceremony held at the ministry’s headquarters in Gusau recently.
The commissioner told the newsmen that the state government procured the motorcycles aimed at assisting the security agencies in the state to combat crime rate in the 14 local government areas in the state.
Dan Kande urged the beneficiaries to work in collaboration with security agencies in the 17 Emirate councils in the state to fight armed banditry.
The commissioner reassured the civilian JTF that they will soon receive their monthly allowance of N15, 000 pledged by the government, urging them to work hard, stating that the government would not let them down.
In his remarks, the Emir of Anka, Alhaji Attahiru Ahmad commended the Yari administration for its commitment towards combating crime in the state.
The Emir stressed that any traditional ruler found engaging in armed banditry would face the wrath of the law.
It would be recalled that recently, the state government sacked seven traditional rulers in the state for engaging themselves with armed banditry activity.
