Yobe to prioritise healthcare services

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe has revealed that the state government will continue to accord priority attention to health care service towards achieving its overall health objective.
The governor stated this at a flagging off ceremony of introduction of meningitis vaccine at Ngelzarma in Fune Local Government Area of the state.
Represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Idi Barde Gubana Wazirin Fune, the governor stressed that the vaccination exercise had proved to be of high impact in reducing mortality and mobility particularly among the children under the age of five years.
Alhaji Buni tasked parents on achieving universal health coverage of meningitis vaccine into the routine immunization in all the health facilities in the state.
In his welcome address, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Fune Local Government Area, Alhaji Adam Arjo Kayeri commended the state government for its commitment towards improving health care system in the state.
Alhaji Kayeri assured to sensitise peoples of the area on the importance of vaccination exercise.
Dr. Muhammad Lawan Gana is the Executive Secretary of the State Primary Health Care Management Board who said, the disease was usually spread through contacts with the saliva or nasal secretion of infected person.
According to him, the most effective and potent means of prevention of meningitis is through vaccination, stressing that all health workers are trained to administer the vaccine safety.
