Yobe installs 520 solar street lights

Yobe State Government has unveiled plans to provide solar street lights on the 4.2 kilometer township road and drainages recently constructed at Buni-Yadi, the headquarters of Gujba Local Government Area.
The state government, as part of its reconstruction efforts of the areas devastated by the activities of Boko-Haram had in August 2019, awarded contracts for the construction of four-kilometer township roads and eight-kilometer concrete drainage line in Buni-Yadi at the total cost of N673,455,140 through direct labour which have since been completed and commissioned.
The Permanent Secretary of the state Ministry of Transport and Energy, Dr. Mustapha Abba Geidam, while speaking on the solar street lights, said the project was part of Governor Mai Mala Buni’s efforts towards providing social amenities to the people across the state.
Dr. Mustapha said: “A total of 520 units of single arm solar street light will be provided in Buni-Yadi township road recently constructed by the Buni-led government in the state.”
The Permanent Secretary explained that the state government is fully committed toward ensuring that social amenities are adequately provided to communities across the state.
