Yobe State Government has commenced fumigation of public places, settlements and streets with chlorine solution in a bid to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the state.

Commencing the exercise at the IBB State Secretariat, Damaturu, the state governor, Mai Mala Buni, represented by his deputy and chairman COVID-19 Prevention Committee, Idi Barde Gubana had disclosed that although the state has not recorded any confirmed case of the disease, it became necessary to take necessary measures to prevent its spread.
Governor Buni said the fumigation exercise would help in disinfecting the nooks and crannies of the state to prevent any outbreak of the virus and other infectious diseases.
The state Commissioner of Environment and Chairman Sub-Committee on Disinfection Exercise, Hon. Sidi Yakubu Karasuwa had pointed out that 27 firefighting
trucks with chlorine solution to spray public places and structures have been deployed for the exercise.
According to him, the exercise would be conducted across all the 17 local government areas of the state.
