World Bank, Jigawa commit $2.3m on water project

The World Bank in collaboration with the Jigawa State Government has fagged off $2.3 million which was equivalent to N828 milliion water project at Birnin Kudu town as part of measures taken to boost water supply in urban and rural areas of the state.
The state Commissioner for Water Resources, Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammad Garba Hannun Giwa, who stated this while giving insight about the gigantic project shortly after he led the foundation laying ceremony at the Birnin Kudu Water Treatment Station recently, said the project was under the third National Urban Water Sector Reform.
He noted that the Federal Government has selected the state out of the 13 benefiting states to have the project which he stated that it was marching grant not loan.
He pointed out that the state was the first to pay its 10 per cent counter part fund, adding that metering installation and house numbering, which are part of the agreements, have been completed.
