By Salihu S. Gezawa

Having noted the tremendous successes recorded by the administration of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State in the last four years and based on the fact that this year’s election is fast approaching to which the governor is seeking reelection, the decision by Dr. Ganduje to ask the people of the state to give him another mandate, in his second term bid, is in the right direction.

The governor has really demonstrated high level of commitment and wisdom within the period under review. He has steered the state to a level that everybody is enjoying the fruits of his stewardship as he was able to bring dividends of democracy to the doorsteps of the people of the state.

The governor has transformed the state to a modern status with many projects executed to stand the test of time as in the construction of flyovers and underpass roads in addition to ensuring continuation of projects started by his predecessors such as the Giginyu and Zoo Road hospitals that were started by former governor of the state, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau.

He has empowered hundreds of youths with skills for them to be self-sufficient. A number of them were taken to Peugeot Automobile Nigeria in Kaduna to train as professional motor mechanics in addition to those who received other trainings from the administration.

These and many more goodies are some of the things that prompted several calls on the people of the state to re-elect the governor in this year’s general elections coming up few weeks to come.

The recent call was from the Education Secretary of Kano Municipal Local Government Area, Malam Adamu Muhammad Lalloki in a chat with The Triumph in the state capital.

According to him, Governor Ganduje is a good material to the people of the state as far as developmental effort is concerned.

Malam Lalloki believes that the people of the state are all living witnesses to the Ganduje administration’s commitment in the execution of capital projects and development of rural areas as epitomized in the actualization of his rural programmes called ‘Karkara Salamu Alaikum’ and ‘Lungu Kal kal.’

Turning to education sector, the Education Secretary noted with great enthusiasm that Governor Ganduje, whom he described as an education philosopher, has done what is expected in improving education at the basic level.

He said under the administration of Dr. Ganduje, many primary schools were renovated, adding that the renovation exercise was entrusted under the care of a committee known as Education Promotion Committee.

Another effort is the purchase of working materials and recruiting over 2,500 female teachers, all for the effort of improving women education, according to Lalloki, adding that women have vital role to play in enhancing the development of various aspects of human endeavour, especially in the education subsector, pointing out that poverty could be eradicated through giving proper education to women.

He urged women to continue to support the present administration in the state in order to enable it move to the next level.

To him, Governor Ganduje is a well responsible personality with a good record of continuity in terms of projects execution, buttressing his argument by saying that the governor inherited various projects from the previous administrations, stating that he did not hesitate to complete them, adding that the projects are so concrete beyond any reasonable doubt.

He enumerated that the longest flyover project started by the immediate past administration is the Sabon Gari Flyover Road constructed along Murtala Muhammad Way, which is now completed and just awaiting official commissioning soon. This is one among many of such projects.

The Education Secretary further noted that the Ganduje administration has initiated numerous projects to which some are ongoing and others completed in addition to the reconstruction of road projects like Ibadan Road and Church Roads at Sabon Gari quarters in the metropolis, thus the governor became first in trying to complete inherited projects.

The educationist said from whatever angle one is entering the state; he or she must meet some gigantic projects executed by the governor either in the construction of roads, schools, water supply and other social development initiatives that have to do with youths and women promotion.

Lalloki explained that the governor has gone extra mile to establish a foundation, which is a nongovernmental, popularly known as Ganduje Foundation, which pays attention to Islamic services, such as building of Islamiyya schools and Mosques, preaching to unbelievers and mobilizing Muslim Ummah to really understand their religious obligations better.

It was noted that under the foundation, a lot of unbelievers have embraced Islam in the nook and cranny of the state.

The Education Secretary then commended it for doing great service to the religion, urging them to redouble effort and continue to expand their activities so as to reach out to as large number of unbelievers as possible in the state as well as the neighbouring states of the federation like Jigawa, Katsina, Kaduna and others.

Speaking on President Muhammadu Buhari’s agricultural agenda, Lalloki described the initiative as a welcome development, stating that before the inception of this administration in 2015, the effort of the previous administration to improve the sector failed because of selfish tendencies, which the President fought after taking over power.

He said having understood that the manufacturing industry depended largely on the agricultural sector for its raw materials, the President, because of his passion for the sector, acted positively by way of placing high premium to it and doing everything humanly possible to boost the agricultural sector, which is currently yielding positive results.

He noted that several small businesses have been groomed in various agricultural value chains and the feat was impacting positively on the nation’s economy, saying that the country was spending huge revenue on importation of rice before the advent of the Buhari administration, which took bold steps to stop the trend of importing the product into the nation as it can produce such product at home.

He also said that several roads, rails and power projects have been completed by the Federal Government under the Buhari administration, adding that so much has been achieved such that every state in the nation had project either completed or ongoing.

On security situation, Lalloki said the administration has been able to recover territories occupied by terrorists before coming of Buhari to power, adding that some abducted Chibok school girls were freed as well as those of Dapchi among others.

He then appealed to the people of the country to let go of negative beliefs and support the APC administration in its goals as well as give the President and Governor Ganduje another chance to complete their works by voting them for a second term in the forthcoming general elections.

According to him, Governor Ganduje deserves more commendation as he promoted all eligible staff of primary schools, who were previously under the previous administration experiencing promotion failure in the state, appealing to teaching and nonteaching staff of primary schools to redouble effort in reciprocating the gesture by dedicating themselves to duties and voting Ganduje and Buhari in the next month’s elections.

He said staff of primary schools, in his jurisdiction, have no problem of promotion, stressing that individuals, associations and organizations should team up with the government to develop the education sector, reiterating that government alone could not shoulder the responsibilities alone as they are too heavy on it.

He similarly hailed the courage of the state commissioner for local government, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo in doing all the needful to support Governor Ganduje in his reelection bid for second tenure by garnering support of the 44 local government areas of the state, thanking him for his role in towards enhancing the performance of local education authorities in the state.

He however used the opportunity to condole with President Muhammadu Buhari, Governor Ganduje and entire people of the nation over the death of former president, Alhaji Shehu Usman Aliyu Shagari who passed away recently, describing lat Shagari as a man of honour and integrity, noting that the late president lived a life worthy of emulation, praying Almighty God to forgive his shortcomings and make Aljanna Firdausi his abode of peace.
