From Bala Abubakar, Gusau
Three suspected Fulani bandits have been killed in Karakkai village of Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State by the people of the village.
Similarly, other two suspected bandits were also arrested and handed over to the military in the area.
Malam Faruku Aliyu informed our reporter that there was a heavy fight between the bandits and the villagers in that night, where the villagers succeeded in killing three of the bandits and arrested two.
According to Aliyu, the bandits were at the village to rustle cows, but were overpowered by the villagers who came out in large number and confronted them.
Speaking to our reporter on the issue, the secretary of the District Head of Karakkai, Alhaji Muhammad Bashar said, the bandits had gone to the village where they wanted to cart away with cows but the villagers refused to allow them to move with the animals.
He however explained that the two people arrested and handed over to soldiers were informants from the area who used to furnish the bandits with useful information on how to carry out their nefarious activities.
When contacted for more comment on phone, the spokesperson of Operation Hadarin Daji in the state, Captain Ayo Oni-Orisan told our reporter that: “I will get back to you,” but up to the time of filing in this report, he has not responded.
