The Social Democratic Party (SDP) Woman Leader in Jigawa State, Hajiya Balaraba Abdullahi has urged women in the state to support the party in the forthcoming 2019 general elections.

Hajiya Balaraba stated this during the inauguration ceremony of Jigawa North West Senatorial office in Gumel recently.

She explained that the party is the only one that can emancipate women from marginalisation, hunger and poverty.

She lamented that majority of women are living in abject poverty as they are not carried along in the scheme of things.

“If we vote for SDP and it wins election in 2019, many of us will be engaged on profitable entrepreneurship that can keep us afloat.

“This is because time has gone when women will just sit down idle and wait for their husbands to provide everything for them.

“It is necessary for us to join SDP that which will provide employment for us and our children,” the woman leader said.

On his part, the state chairman of the party, Alhaji Abba Annas, called on the people in the state to join it, pointing out that it is the one that can salvage the people from the present economic predicaments and hardship.

Also speaking, the gubernatorial candidate of the party in the state, Alhaji Bashir Adamu urged the people to vote for him in the upcoming general elections in 2019.

Alhaji Adamu said that he was not contesting the election to make money but to serve the humanity.

He pledged that if he gets the mandate, he would provide dividends of democracy to the doorsteps of the masses like water, hospitals, schools, electricity and other basic amenities of life.

“Agriculture will also get a boost during my administration if I am elected as governor.” Adamu said.

Our correspondent reports that there was large turnout of people from all the local government areas that made up the Senatorial District during the inauguration ceremony.

The local governments include Gumel, Kazaure, Ringim, Taura, Garki, Babura, Yankwashi, Roni, Suletankarkar and Gwiwa.
