Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has donated the sum of N5, 000 to 115 inmates each as transport fee back to their respective homes.

The gesture was in line with presidential pardon of President Muhammadu Buhari to some numbers of inmates currently serving in various Correctional Centres in the country.
Speaking, Governor Sule, represented at the occasion by the state Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Barr. Abdulkarim Kana said the inmates were released unconditionally with the approval of the President.
Sule charged the freed inmates to avoid anything that would dent the image of the country and the community they represent, just as he called on them to distance themselves from drugs abuse so as to live better lives.
“Let me state here without minsing of a word that all of you in this Correctional Centre custody are product of the mistakes that you committed in the past, therefore I urged you to shun your past and not to disappoint President Buhari’s amnesty,” he advised.
In her remarks, the state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Halima Jabiru commended President Buhari for granting the amnesty to the inmates.
On his part, the state Controller of the Centre, Emmanuel Okoro admonished the released inmates to avoid past mistake which landed them to the Correctional Service.
