Sokoto varsity gets .18m-litre-capacity solar water project

A 180,000 litre-capacity solar powered potable water project has been commissioned in Sokoto State University.
The project which was executed by NNPC/Belema Oil joint venture was commissioned by Sultan Muhammad Saad Abubakar recently.
Speaking at the occasion, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal thanked the sponsor of the project for executing it in the institution.
Tambuwal reaffirmed the readiness of the state government to partner with any person or body wishing to execute such people-oriented projects anywhere in the state.
He therefore expressed optimism that the project would impact positively on teaching and learning in the institution.
Governor Tambuwal said that all the 23 local government areas in the state would benefit from water supply projects being undertaken by his administration.
The governor further said that the state government has entered into three-year partnership with USAID for the provision of water in the state.
Tambuwal, while thanking Belema Oil Producing Limited for the gesture, urged the university community to utilize the facility judiciously.
Earlier, the founder and president of the oil company, Engineer Jack Rich Tein JR said that the firm decided to execute the project as part of its corporate social responsibility.
Engineer Tein thanked all the stakeholders who assisted towards making the project a reality.
He said that the scheme has stainless steel over storage tanks and world class treatment system.
