Sokoto charges households to allow wards immunized

Sokoto State Government has renewed appeal to all households in the state to direct their wives to release their children for immunization against polio virus.

The exercise was administered in selected eight out of the 23 local government areas of the state, including Wurno, Dange Shuni, Bodinga, Kware, Sokoto North, Sokoto South and Yabo.

The Executive Secretary of the state Primary Health Care, Albany Abdullahi Adamu Romo made the appeal while inspecting the ongoing polio immunisation exercise in the affected local government areas recently.

“Let every and each household direct his wife to release his children, if he is not at home and if he is available, let him open another gate for his children to be vaccinated,” Romo advised.

Romo, who attributed the impressive turnout of the children to the immunisation centres, to the commitment of the state government toward that direction, explained that the government has settled all the monies required for the payment of the general vacation teams in addition to the sensitization and procurement of vaccines.

The secretary further urged parents and guardians in the state to make best use of the opportunity.

He noted that the state governor, Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has also pledged and directed the state committee on polio eradication to summit any requirements as supplementary request if the need arises aimed at achieving the successful conduct of the exercise.

Romo said the state polio immunisation teams have vowed to reach all children where ever they, adding that no matter remote the place, is the team would visit and conduct the exercise.
