Sokoto APC donates clothing materials to 10,000 indigents
From Umar Danladi Ado, Sokoto
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State, Alhaji Yahaya Buhari Siriddawa, has donated clothing materials to no fewer than 10,000 indigents in the city and its environs.
The distribution ceremony was successfully conducted at his residence in Sokoto, recently.
The clothing materials doled out by the philanthropist included hundreds of bails of guinea brocade, lace and wrappers.
The beneficiaries included women, men, elderly, children, physically challenged and other vulnerable groups.
A major highlight of the event was the provision for hand washing with soap and hand sanitisers, as well as face masks to all the beneficiaries, security agents and other officials involved in the exercise.
This was part of the donor’s contribution to stem the tide of the raging global coronavirus pandemic.
Speaking shortly after the exercise, Alhaji Siriddawa said that, the gesture was a perennial one to alleviate the suffering of the less-privileged persons in the society, especially during the forthcoming Ramadan fast and Sallah festivities.
Some of the beneficiaries lauded Siriddawa for the gesture, urging other wealthy individuals to emulate him.
