Social distance: Poly Registrar in police net

Following disregard of Governor Abdullahi Sule’s order and proclamation for social distance instituted to protect people from contacting with deadly coronavirus in the state, a report had indicated that police in Nasarawa State have arrested overseer of Lafia North Development Area and Registrar of Isa Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic, Lafia, Suleiman Agyo and Mukhtar Wakeel respectively for violating the order on restriction of public and social gathering in the state.
Source told our correspondent that the two government officials were arrested during a wedding Fatiha of the overseer in Lafia who took a second wife in Lungun Wambai in the heart of Lafia.
A police source said that promptly the police arrested Agyo and his friend, Wakeel who featured in the video.
The source said, two of the arrested persons have passed the night in detention at “A” Division.
An investigation was ongoing.
When our reporter contacted the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Abdulkarim Kana confirmed the arrest.
“I want to reassure people of the state the governor’s order has no barrier on any person or group no matter how placed in the society,” he stressed.
Kana stated that whoever violates this directive, he or she would definitely face the law of the land.
On his part, the state police commissioner, Mr. Bola Longe also confirmed the arrest, saying that they would be charged to court to serve as deterrent to others.
