The wife of Nasarawa State Governor, Hajiya Salamatu Al-Makura has sued for peace and unity among all the diverse ethnic groups in the state.
She made this known in an interview with The Triumph in her office, Shendam Road Lafia recently.
Hajiya Salamatu described peace and unity as panacea for the meaningful development of every society, just as she noted that violence is a weapon of destruction.
“As I am talking to you now, a lot of families have suffered various degrees of misfortune as a result of communal, religious and political crises during which many lives were lost and this is uncalled for,” she retorted.
The Nasarawa state first lady said that there is need for all to come together and map out strategies on how to achieve peace and unity among all so as to foster unity in all ramifications.
On child education, Mrs. Al-Makura called on parents to consider girl-child education as their topmost priority.
“As the adage goes: if you educate a female child you automatically educate the entire society,” she said.
“Now that state governments have declared free education for all children in the state, parents have no reason what-so-ever to deny girl-child access to both Western and religious education,” she warned.
She used the platform to appeal to people of Nasarawa and Nigeria as a whole to vote for President Muhammadu Buhari in the next presidential election for continuity so that he can deliver the country for better tomorrow, just as she called on citizens of the state to vote for Al-Makura as Senator to represent Southern Senatorial District and all other APC candidates in 2019.
