Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi state this has paid a condolence visit to Andarai, Ruwan Fili and Katanga on the death of more than 13 people in a road accident.
A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Abubakar Mu’azui Dakingari said Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu first port of call was Ruwan Fili where six persons died while seven others sustained injuries.
He directed for the immediate transfer of all the injured persons to Usmanu Danfodio University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto for further treatment and donated N1million cash for their medical expenses and gave N100, 000 each to the families of the deceased persons, praying Allah to grant them with eternal rest.
Briefing the governor, the District Head of Karaye, Alhaji Abdullahi Bawa, Baraden Ruwan Fili, Alhaji Haruna Jada and Alhaji Abdullahi Andarai, the APC Chairman Maiyama Local Government told him that more than 24 people were involved in the accident along Shanga road that led to the death of six persons while others sustained injuries in a truck they were travelling in.
At Andarai, the governor paid a similar visit to the palace of the District Head who told him that three persons involved in the accident were from the town, while two others were hospitalized as a result of the injuries they sustained.
The Bunun Andarai, Muhammad Aliyu Liba expressed appreciation to the governor for the visit as well as his financial assistance to the families of the deceased including food items by the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).
Also, the Chairman of Maiyama Local Government Area, Alhaji Muhammad Maidamma Magaji Dogondaji thanked the governor for his concern to the people of the area.
Before leaving Andarai, the governor appreciated the local process of extracting oil from groundnuts by machines in the town. He was also at Katanga town where they lost four persons in the accident while five persons were injured, praying Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest and the families the fortitude to bear the loss.
He equally donated N100, 000 each to the families of the deceased and those who sustained injuries also received some amount while their medical expenses would be paid by him.
Responding, a businessman and politician, Alhaji Mainasara Aliyu Katanga and Rafin Katanga, Alhaji Mukhtar Usman respectively, informed the governor that four persons died and five others were injured along Saminaka-Shanga road on their way to Lagos.
