Retired Sharia judges described as solution providers
The Provost of Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies, (AKCIL), Prof. Balarabe Abubakar Jakada has described retired Sharia Court judges as bridge builders and icons of social development in the state.
He stated this while receiving the association of the retired Sharia Judges on a courtesy visit to him, explaining that the retired judges spent valuable time of their lives serving humanity, mediating and providing solutions to various disputes.
He thanked the association for the visit, expressing his willingness to work with them in order to attain their desired objectives.
In their separate remarks, Deputy Provost Administration, Barr. Dija Isa Hashim and Registrar of the college, Alhaji Abubakar Yunusa had described the members of the association as the college’s sons of the soil considering the link between them.
Earlier speaking, chairman of the association, Qadi Isma’il Dalhat Abdullahi (retired) had told the Provost that they were at the college to intimate him on their mission to harness and compile the various contributions of Alkali Abubakar Jakada for future judicial referencing and academic citation.
Malam Abdullahi said the contributions of Alkali Malam Jakada in the field of Judiciary are enormous, pointing out that as the direct beneficiaries of such works, they took it a duty to assemble such materials and compile them into a book.
He then appealed to the Provost to look into the possibility of introducing Law/Sharia short courses to further strengthen the judiciary and legal system not only in the state but the nation at large, a statement by the spokesman of the college, Salisu Marafa Sagagi has revealed.
