Positive behaviours, prayers could overcome Nigeria’s problems’
From Christiana Gokyo, Jos
It has been observed that in Nigeria today, violence and many ugly things being experienced can only be stopped by our positive behaviours and prayers.
“We can overcome all social problems we are encountering in our country, and if we take our religions seriously; Christians practicing their religion, Muslims practicing theirs with seriousness, we can overcome them.”
The Catholic Archbishop of Abuja Dioceses and the Administrator of the Catholic Archdiocese of Jos, His Grace Rev Dr. Ignatius A. Kaigama disclosed this in Jos recently.
He said: “Corona virus is about to enter our country, but we pray that it should not enter Nigeria because if in Europe and America they are finding it difficult to contain the disease, if it comes here, it would just spread like routed fire.”
According to him, when there are serious cases, we act as a team, act as united patriotic people and try to take advantage of others.
He noted that when relief materials are being provided, money set aside for this and that, some people would swallow it and would not be used for that purpose.
He observed: “The same issue with our security fighting Boko Haram, the soldiers will tell you they don’t have equipment, but yet the Federal Government will tell you, ‘we have given everything’ and when asked where the money is, somebody has sat on it and diverted it and that is why we are not succeeding.”
