Poor performance: APC berates PDP, Fintiri
From Joseph Asegba, Yola
The Adamawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that the state government, under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s 365 days in office has performed poorly.
The state party secretary, Mr. Wefarrnyi Theman and its Publicity secretary, Malam Abdullahi Muhammad stated this at a press conference held at the party’s secretariat in Yola, the state capital, saying that the PDP administration has failed woefully in the state.
Theman stated that comparing the PDP administration and that of APC, within the last one year, PDP could only be rated between 20 and 30 per cent especially in the area of security, where the administration, they said had performed below expectations.
The duo reiterated: “The Peoples Democratic party (PDP), in Adamawa State has failed the people of the state within one year in office compared to what APC did in just 100 days in office in the past.
“APC, during our government in 2015, within one 100 days, initiated projects and within the year completed them, but PDP till now, its one year as government cannot even fulfill the campaign promises to the people.’’
According to Theman, as government, they ought to have been mindful that the fundamental purpose is the security of the people, stating that they must not wait until things happened before taking a fire brigade approach, but that security and social welfare of citizens are paramount, alleging that following its lackadaisical approach, notorious Shila boys have taken the centre stage in the state.
“Instead of taking proactive measures in especially what took place recently in Numan and Lamurde not until lives and properties were lost and destroyed,” they added.
They also accused Governor Fintiri’s administration for not taking on capacity building on education, healthcare, road, infrastructure and social impact to citizens for them to feel the impact of new administration in place.
On finance management, APC noted that what PDP collects from the Federal Government Allocation compared to that of APC is two times of APC in the past, but what APC did with the small receipt did a lots of projects that the people of the state feel them, see and can touch them, the party stressed.
They also pointed accusing finger on PDP on local government autonomy, while there was no proper conduct of local government chairmanship election in the state.
“We had no chairmanship LG election. What took place was laughable. Local government autonomy is in place, but it is not implemented,” they lamented.
They reiterated that for just one year now, Fintiri administration is borrowing N17 billion, when the people of the state do not know what they are doing with that huge money, adding that it was even alleged that such was borrowed in the past with no account.
“APC, though an opposition party has reshaped and refreshed with the promise to be objective and sooner or later, it will take over the state government from PDP,” said them.
