Plateau closes down schools
Following the directive by the state government who announced the closure of all schools, both public and private operating in the state on or before Saturday March 21, 2020.
The decision became necessary because of the present outbreak of the deadly Corona virus in order to discourage the possible spread of the dreaded virus among students and residents in the state.
Our correspondent reports that some of the schools started their exams for second term on the 16 March, 2020, but had to finish on Saturday before vacation while others finished on Sunday and then vacated.
Those schools that were expected to start on 23 May, 2020 had to close till the 3rd term to write their exams.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government of Plateau, Danladi Atu and issued to newsmen recently, saying the decision became unavoidable because of the spread of Covid-19, which is therefore imperative for government to adapt this and other measures to safeguard lives.
It further encouraged the people of the state to ensure the highest level of personal hygiene.
