Fika Government Secondary School Old Student Association (FGSSOSA) Class of 1986 in Potiskum, Yobe State has pledged to provide 50 set of three-seater chairs to students of the school in order to enhance conducive atmosphere of learning in the school.

The Vice Chairman of the association, Alhaji Nuhu Garba Kintinkis disclosed this while addressing journalists shortly after a meeting they held at the Auditorium Room of the school.

“We attended school here and we benefit from the school with many things and we observed that the school is now in bad condition, so there is need to put head together to move the school forward,” he said.

Alhaji Kintinkis maintained that government alone cannot do everything to students now, because things are too much on its shoulder, saying that was why they came into to assist the students.

“We repaired the administrative blocks including the principal’s office and we observed that there is serious problem of lack of chairs in the school, because most of the students are sitting on bare floor to receive teaching.

“We enjoyed the time we were students here in the school, that time, chairs, hostels, classroom, food, teaching materials and everything was available. Government provided it, but now the burden is too much on the government so there is need for us to intervene and assist the students.

“Our aim is to see that we assist our children and our sisters to stay comfortable in the school and face their studies seriously and understand what the teachers are teaching them,” he said.

He added that if the students were not comfortable how would you expect them to listen to or pick what the teacher is saying?

“As such, there is need to come in and assist the students to get what they come to learn,” said he.
