Edo community in Kano, has been called to sustain the already cordial relationship existing in the state with their host.
Oba Of Benin Describes Ganduje A Unque And Detribalised Statesman

The call was made by the Oba of Benin Kingdom, HRM Oba Ewuare II, who was in the state, penultimate week for a 2 day royal visit to the ancient city of Kano.
The Monarch, who was received by the Edo Council of Chiefs led by the Sarkin Edo in Kano, Deacon Fred Edozele Akhigbe (JP) Enogie II, subject and well wishers at the Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), Proceeded to the palace of Emir of Kano, Mallam Muhammadu Sanusi II; Where the Benin leader, inform his host that he was in the city to show appreciation and honour for the Emir’s Presence during his coronation in Edo State, as the spiritual, cultural and traditional leader of his people and also, to acknowoledge the enabling environment created for all the Edolites to excel in all their endeavours. He stated that “Nigeria would only become great, if only we see one another as brothers in-respective of race, colour or religion”.
In response, his host, Emir of Kano, Mhammadu Sanusi II, told his guest and his entourage that, in Kano,
“We see ourselves as one as ordained by Almighty God, and would continue to uphold the principles of oneness in all our daily dealing”, he stated.
Sanusi further challenged the citizens to always support the policies and programmes of the government, just as he appealed to them to maintain peace tolerance and above all, obey the law which he noted, is the only panacea to growth and development.
In continuation of his visit to the state, the Monarch has described the Kano State governor, as a peace loving leader not only in Kano, but, in Nigeria as a whole.
Oba Ewuare II. Stated this at the State government House, Kano, where he also paid a homage to the State governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. Ewuare II thanked the governor for the consideration given to some of the Edo State sons and daughters who are serving the state in various capacities. He described Ganduje as a fore-sighted governor and Nigerian leader who means well for his people and the country. He therefore appealed for an unalloyed loyalty and support from the citizens. The Monarch used the occasion to appeal to the governor to consider allocation of a plot of land for construction of Edo Community house in the in Kano metropolis which would serve as a meeting point for members of the community.
Ganduje who was elated by the visit and thus described the traditional Institutions as a rallying point for the populace and those in authority, assured his visitor that his government would continue to accord it the respect it deserved. He pledge to look into the demand of the royal father as he described Kano as a mini-Nigeria. While he promised a deep inter communal tolerances, peaceful and harmonious atmosphere with which the state is known, the governor opined, “Kano, would continue to be an attractive haven for all peace loving entrepreneurs in the country”.
In his speech while welcoming the Oba of Benin to the State, Sarki Edo Community in Kano, Enogie II, DCN (Dr.) Fred Edozele Akhigbe, said, “I feel highly honored and delighted to sincerely welcome His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba, N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolor, Oba Ewuare II, the Oba of Benin to Kano State; we are proud to have you in our midst”. The Edo leader in Kano, noted that, the august visit is unique, memorable, historic and auspicious. He stated thus, “it is not common for a Benin Monarch to leave his domain on visits to other territories, but our Oba and Royal Father deemed it necessary to undertake this royal and historic visit to Kano”, he asserted.
Akhigbe informed Ewuare II that Edos in Kano have been leaving and doing their legitimate businesses in Kano happily with the support and cooperation of the host citizens, Emirate council and above all, the government. He described Kano as peaceful and accommodative. He assured His Royal Majety, that the community in Kano under his watch are united and law avoiding while thanking the government particularly, for taking proper care and concern of their affairs in the State.
