Nursing college reassures of loyalty to government
From Sule Aliyu, Bauchi
Management of Bauchi State College of Nursing and Midwifery has reassured of its total commitment and support to the administration of Governor Bala Abdukadir Muhammad for effective implementation of his policies in the health sector.
The reassurance was made by the Provost of the College, Hajiya Rakiya Saleh in Bauchi, the state capital.
She said that the college deemed it necessary to support the ideals of the present administration considering the fatherly support being rendered to it by the governor since assumption of office.
She further said that the college required further interventions from the government and other critical stakeholders in view of the increased index capacity of students and commencement of Community Midwifery Programme as approved by the regulatory body.
Mrs. Saleh also pointed out that the commencement of the two-year programme will no doubt strengthen Primary Health
Care Services and assist in reducing maternal and infant mortality and morbidity caused due to the shortage of midwives at the grassroots.
According to her, the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria has granted full accreditation of courses at the college.
The courses include Nursing, Midwifery and Community Midwifery with 100 per cent, 75 per cent and 45 per cent indexing capacities.
Enumerating some of the achievements so far recorded, the Provost said the institution succeeded in securing full accreditation with 100 per cent indexing capacity which implies increased number of students to be indexed by the council.
