NLC to introduce empowerment for members
The Chairman of NLC, Comrade Hussaini Hamisu Yanduna revealed this during a visit to Government House recently.
Yanduna said the empowerment will assist members to learn skills to set up businesses.
He said both NLC and Trade Union Congress (TUC) will work to ensure the success of the empowerment package expected to take-off this year.
Yanduna called on state government to key-in and provide necessary assistance for the success of the programme.
“We need intervention of the government by providing technical and other logistic support to effectively implement the project,” explaining that very soon TUC will forward a document to the state government on the issue.
He, however, expressed concern over mass exit of the civil servants in both state and local government which has led to shortage of manpower.
He called on the state government to commence recruitment to fill the existing vacancies for smooth implementation of government policies.
On the issue of insecurity, he said NLC is disturbed with the insecurity situation facing the state and appealed to the government to take more measures to address the problem.
He called on the people of the state to continue to pray for peace and stability in the state.
In his address, Governor Aminu Bello Masari said his administration will work with the labour to enhance the welfare of workers.
Masari commended the labour leaders for their support and cooperation to his administration.
