Nigerian Army has finally broken silence on the increased attacks on the Maiduguri-Damaturu Road.
The Theatre Commander Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj. Gen. O.G. Adeniyi stated this during a press briefing, saying his men have taken frantic measures to address the heightening security tension in the area.
The Commander explained that the Army is aware of the situation, noting that it is already being addressed.
The Army General spoke on the reasons for the attacks; how Boko Haram caries out their attacks; their plans and what people should do.
Among other things, the Army said commuters should not stop at any checkpoints except those at officially designated locations.
He mentioned that the only official checkpoints are at Benisheikh, Jakana, Auno, Mainok and Njimtilo.
He said that all the checkpoints are located in towns, noting that travellers should be wary of any checkpoint in wastelands and empty bushes.
