In an effort to curb the ever increasing terrorism, banditry and kidnapping, Niger State Government has reinforced ban on use of motorcycles from 10:00pm to 6:00pm as part of effort to curb insecurity in state.

It would be recalled that not less than eight villages were under attack by bandits.

In most cases the villager properties and domestic animals were vandalised and killed.

The state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mohammed Sani Idris told reporters in Minna that the motorcycles were identified as major factor contributing to the perpetuation to the criminal activities across the state.

He also announced that motorcycles and vehicles without plate numbers as well as those that make unauthorised use of government plate number would henceforth be arrested.

The state Commissioner of Police has been directed to ensure the enforcement of the law, which would soon take effect in rural areas.
