Nigerian Cricket Federation (NCF) has organized a two- day training programme for coaches, games masters and school children to promote the game at the grass root.
The National Development Manager of the Federation, Mr. Joe Oche Onoja disclosed this to TheTriumph Sports at Sani Abachsa Stadium during the traning exercise of the School Children recently.
He said the programme was intended to educate the stakeholders on the importance of the game towards contributing to the development of children at grassroots.
He further said it was also part of the federation quota towards engaging the children with a means of keeping them busy towards fighting drugs abuse and crimes, assuring of the federation’s readiness to provide sporting equipments.
Coach Onoja described Kano State as the most populated in the federation,
He added that about 200 children took part in the training exercise from primary and secondary schools of both public and private, assuring of the federation’s support to the state with local sporting equipments towards encouraging their participation.
The Development Manager appreciated the level of turn out of the schools.
He commended the Executive Chairman of the state Sports Commission, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima and the schools’ management for their support and cooperation, appealing to the state government to provide cricket equipments and additional pitches.
