In its bid to boost revenue generation, Nangere Local Government Area of Yobe State has constituted 11-man committee to ensure an increase in its revenue base so as to meet the needs of its teeming populace.

Inaugurating the committee, the Director of Personnel Management (DPM) of the area, Alhaji Salisu Chiromari, said the aim of establishing the committee was to improve and enhance the revenue collection in the area.

The terms reference of the committee include improving the council’s internally generated revenue, overseeing and participating in collection of revenue in all levels in the area and ensuring all what have been collected are remitted in the local government revenue account and submitting of weekly report to the office of the DPM.

“We observe that the previous record shows that the collection of the revenue is very poor, despite the fact that the local government has all the sources of revenue,” he added.

Chiromari further said they should also co-opt any other persons whom they think will assist them in the process of discharging their assignments and also liaising with the treasury department to collect the receipts and ensure all the existing ones are returned to the store.

He revealed that the committee would not be paid any allowance but just it is a sacrifice and patriotism aimed at generating more revenue to provide the social amenities to the people of the area.

Alhaji Chiromari said the committee should also check the movement of fake receipts in the local markets there, adding that they should also include some areas like filling stations, firewood and blacksmithing among others.

According to him, their intention and plans were that what ever they have collected should be used judiciously to provide social amenities to the people.

Alhaji Chiromari commended Governor Mai Mala Buni of the state for bringing them back to their respective local government area so that every body will bring rapid development in his area.
