The National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has seized fake sub-standard and unregistered hand sanitizers being sold in Yobe State markets.

Lawan Musa Dadingelma, NAFDAC Yobe State Coordinator stated this to newsmen during an interview in Damaturu on Wednesday.

Dadingelma said that the items were seized in order to safeguard public health, adding that: “Our surveillance and vigilance operations have been helpful in the seizures made during market survey.

He said: “All the 250 hand sanitizers of 100ml have no manufacturer’s product label, no address and no NAFDAC registration number.”

The Coordinator noted that the seized consignments included dozens of hand sanitizers.

He explained: “NAFDAC is working relentlessly to ensure that the unscrupulous businessmen and women do not sell fake Covid-19 Personal Protective Equipments which will be injurious and unwholesome items to the citizens.”
