The activities of Delta Safe in the Niger Delta Region by the military have provided a considerably safe environment to both the multinationals and indigenous petroleum companies to operate in the region.

The Director of Defense Media Operations (DMO), Brig. General Bernard Ejike who disclosed this while unveiling the Directorate of Defense Headquarters in Abuja recently, said that the operation has recorded some significant milestones with the clearing of waters of the activities of vandals.

The NNPC, he said, has recorded a downward trend in their losses from pump stations and their achievements and these according to him, would be consolidated until the entire SS is free from these criminal elements.

Brig-General Ejike explained that currently, they have a total of nine ongoing Armed Forces of Nigeria operations in different parts of the country, besides the Multinational Joint Task Force Operation with its Headquarters at N’Djamena, Republic of Chad.

The nine operations which he said include Operation Lafiya Dole, Operation Delta Safe, Operation Safe Haven, Operation Awatse, Operation Safe Corridor, Operation Whirl Stroke, Operation Whirl Punch, Operation Thunder Strike and Operation HadarinDaji, all aim to address the current secondary challenges in the country ranging from insurgents in the North East, cattle rustlers, bandits and kidnappers in the North West.

He pointed out that the Directorate of Defense Media Operations under the present leadership of the Chief of Defense Staff, General AG Olanisakin, was created out to interface with the media and the general public on all Armed Forces of Nigeria Military operations both internal and external.

He said the Directorate would also be responsible for information management in all multi-agency operations involving the military.

Earlier in his address, the Coordinator of Defense Media Operations, Major-General John Enenche had said that the Defense Media Operations was the latest strategic initiative of the Chief of Defense Staff in line with their military effort on media operations.
