Kano State Government has expended a total of N25 million in conducting this year’s edition of Eid Maulud in commemoration of the birth day of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.
The revelation was made by the leader of Khadimul Islam Political Vanguard, Alhaji Shehu Tasiu Ishaq at an occasion to mark the second edition of the distribution of cows, bags of rice and cash to the Maulud centers held at Sheikh Tijjani Jumaat Mosque in Kano metropolis recently.
The leader of the group explained that this year’s event got a lion’s share when compared to the last year’s, adding that already the cows numbering 24 as well as the other items were distributed at the various venues where the Maulud is being celebrated in the state.
He said a total of 100 centers have benefited from the gesture, adding that 100 Islamiyya school teachers have received a bag of rice each in addition to N10, 000 each, while 20 female teachers of such schools were given N30,000.
Alhaji Ishaq said an hour air time has been secured in various media outfits in the state to talk about the life history of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, saying that already 5,000 copies of a speech from Shehu Ibrahim on the praises for the Prophet have been published and ready for distribution at the venues of the Maulud celebration.
He added that 50,000 bags of sachet water would be distributed to such venues of the festivity in the state.
According to him, this year, Maulud was celebrated at Kano Government House, the first of its kind in the history of the state.
