Matawalle revokes grazing, forest lands from 1999

From BalaAbubakar, Gusau

Zamfara State Governor, Alhaji Bello Muhammad Matawalle has announced the revocation of all farmlands titles/allocations made in the State from 1999 to date.

A press release made available to The Triumph and signed by the Director General Press Affairs to the Governor, Malam Yusuf Idris

Gusau said the Governor’s action became necessary in order to address the issues of insecurity arising from farmers/herders conflicts believed to be connected with the indiscriminate allocations of grazing and forest reserves which were later converted to farmlands.

Matawalle, however, approved the constitution of an investigation committee with a view to resolving the conflicts caused directly or indirectly by such action.

The Governor said that new allocations will be made immediately after the committee shall have reviewed and submitted its report to the government, adding that the composition of the committee members will soon be made public.

The release said the revocation order takes immediate effect from last Friday while all affected persons are advised to comply with the directives.
