Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State has announced the closure of all markets, Mosques and Churches in the state for a period of a week.

The governor, according to his Media Aide, Alhaji Zailani Baffa took the measures to end the spread and community transmission of Covid-19 in the state.
The governor, who spoke through his media aide, re-affirmed the 8:00pm to 6:00pm curfew announced by the Federal Government with an additional measure taken on Kaura Namoda Local Government Area whose curfew is now from 6:00pm to 6:00am daily.
The governor described the situation in Kaura Namoda town as worrisome considering the increased number of people dying of recent in the area, including the paramount monarch.
He said the family of the late Emir has been quarantined and fumigation of the palace and major areas of the city has equally been done.
Governor Matawalle, who said the new measure, was for an initial period of one week, lamented the nonchalant attitude of the people to the observance of the simple safety rules of social distancing, use of face masks and hand sanitizers.
He said the closure of markets, however, did not affect pharmaceutical shops and super markets, adding that the government would ensure that all safety measures were employed before they were allowed to operate.
