Farmers in Daurawa village in Makoda Local Government Area of Kano State have called on the state government to provide with them agricultural input in order to boost their farming activities.

Speaking to The Triumph in an exclusive interview at the village, a farmer Malam Dauda Muhammad Liman said they need quality seeds, fertilizers and water pumping machine so as to improve production of their farm produce.

Malam Liman revealed that farmers in the area are known for farming of tomato, onion, pepper, watermelon and sugarcane, noting that they buy fertilizer at the cost of N5, 500 which is fair, saying however that they need a reduction in the price.

He said presently the price of big basket of tomato is sold at N3, 500, while that of pepper stood at N3, 200.

Another farmer, Malan Sarki Felele told our reporter that the commodities (tomatoes and pepper) were sold at N3, 700, stressing that last rainy season; the price was reasonable which encouraged many people in the area to engage in dry season farming of the commodities.

On his part, Malam Umar Isah said he has made a lot of money from this year’s farming, revealing that out of the profit, he bought some agricultural input to boost his farming.
