Mai Gidan Ruwa: a representative par excellence

Honourable Mustapha Bala Dawaki “Maigidan Ruwa” as he is popularly called by people of his constituency, is a House of Representatives member representing Dawakin Kudu and Warawa in the lower chamber.
He was elected for third tenure under the umbrella of APC in the 2019 general elections following an outstanding performance in his first tenure between 2011-2015under PDP, where he headed committee on Science and Technology, his second term between 2015-2019,under APC.
Representative Mustapha Bala’s diligence and commitment to serving the lower chamber earned him the leadership of the house committee on Housing and Humanitarian services and then seconded to Appropriation following the removal of the then chairman of the committee representative Abdulmuminin Jibrin Kofa of Bebeji/Kiru constituency.
Honourable Maigidan Ruwa is the chairman of house committee on housing in the current dispensation under the house leadership of Femi Gbajabiamila( APC Lagos).
He is a grass root politician who ensured adequacy, equal representation and distribution of dividends of democracy between thirty political wards, fifteen each for the two local governments under his constituency.
Some of the feats he achieved by way of improving lives and bringing succor to the people he represented, implemented among others the following programs.
Sponsorship of treatment of one thousand two hundred people with various orthopedic problems that was carried out by National Orthopedic hospital, Dala in Kano and was held at Dawakin Kudu General hospital free of charge.
Varieties of orthopedic specialists were available and patients were thoroughly diagnosed and given appropriate medications and advice based on their medical conditions and even surgery were the need arises.
Alhaji Mustapha Bala Dawaki at the site of the medical and outreach said the gesture was borne out of his desire of bringing medical interventions to the people he represent been health is wealth and admonished them to adhere strictly to doctors advices for their general well being.
The head of the medical team, who is the chief medical Director of National Orthopedic hospital, Dr Muhammad Salihu described the intervention as timely as said his team has done their best in rendering best orthopedic services.
The hosting local government chairman of Dawakin Kudu Alhaji Nasiru Ibrahim Matage and his counterpart of Warawa Alhaji Yusif Abdullahi Danlasan appreciated the commitment of the member to the program describing it as an act capable of attracting abundant reward from the Almighty God and also members of the medical team for their hard work and dedication to the exercise.
Also, the member had spent more than one hundred and twenty million as empowerment to 4,631 youths both males and females for them to become self reliant.
Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje who was physically present at the inauguration of the empowerment program held at Dawakin Kudu local government secretariat described Hon Mustapha Bala Dawaki as a committed legislator who is apt and doing in showing concern to people of his constituency and called on the electorates to give the member all the needed supports to forge ahead.
The Governor added that the state government had donated a land for the building of a study center on National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) at Dawakin Kudu and urged people of the area to used the opportunity for their own development.
Honourable Mustapha Bala Dawaki said the initiative was part of his zeal of supporting people of the local governments he is representing and sponsored across the political wards in the duo local governments.
As somebody with feeling of betterment for women, he initiated and sponsored of one hundred women in collaboration with National Directorate of Employment NDE on soap making and each was given fifteen thousand naira as startup capital.
Kano state Director of NDE, representing by Chief Internal Auditor of the Directorate malam Bashir Usman Sagagi appreciated the effort of the member and hoped for the sustenance of the tempo.
Some of the beneficiaries interviewed, Sadiya Isa Gurjiya, Rabiatu Sa’adu Tanagar and Zahra’u Muhammed Tamburawa thanked Hon. Mustapha Bala Dawaki and the coordinating agency for the gesture and pledged to make best use of the opportunity.
Parts of his effort and concern to the child trafficking and bring actualities of concern agencies to the grassroot, his constituency had organized a two day sensitization program for two hundred participants drawn from the two local governments in collaboration with National agency for the prohibition of trafficking in person (NAPTIP).
The state Director of the agency Alhaji Shehu Umar said the house member had visited the agency’s office and requested for such program at his constituency for more enlightenment on the dangers attached to the illicit act, that included selling of children, rape, forced labour and begging among others.
Representative Mustapha Bala Dawaki who was represented by Dawakin Kudu local government chairman Alhaji Nasiru Ibrahim Matage urged the participants to put into practice what they have learnt to achieve the desired goals.
The representative of Gaya emirate, Alhaji Hamisu Alu Barden Gaya called on village and ward heads to caution their subjects to remain vigilant on the movement of their children and report any suspicious movement to relevant authorities for prompt action.
Maigida Ruwa also empowered elected and appointed local officials of the two local governments he represented.
He said the move was made to first elected and appointees to ease part of the burden they shared on shouldering the responsibilities of the electorate.
Currently, there are two thousand eight hundred people under going training on various skills and are expected to round up in the next two weeks.
He sponsored many bills on the floor of the house aimed at improving the standard of People of Kano in general and people of his constituency in particular.
