The Kebbi All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday submitted the final list of its chairmanship and councillorship candidates for the local government council election slated for October 26.

This was disclosed by the state’s APC Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Sani Dododo, while briefing newsmen after the APC stakeholders’ meeting in Birnin Kebbi.

According Dododo the list was submitted to the State Independent Electoral Commission (KSIEC), adding that the list contained 21 chairmanship candidates and 225 councillorship candidates.

He added that the party’s reconciliation committee had addressed grievances of other contestants who were not victorious during the party’s primary election.

“Our reconciliation committee sat for 59 days and nights, making consultations to discuss and address the challenges facing the party with a view to meeting up KSIEC’ deadline.

“And today, we have successfully submitted the list of our candidates to the commission,” he said.

Dododo further explained that about 800 aspirants, consisting of 200 for chairmanship and over 500 for councillor seats, showed interest to participate in the APC primary.

In his remarks, the secretary said stakeholders of the party considered the credibility of all the candidates as well as chances of the party in the forthcoming elections before arriving at the decision.

“We have briefed all the stakeholders, including our governor, Atiku Bagudu, on our activities from the beginning to this present situation, and the governor commended us and told us not to lose the tempo,” he said.

He added that the party has the chances of winning with wide margin considering its acceptability among the people of the state.
