From Yahaya Wakili, Damaturu
Yobe State Commissioner of Information, Home Affairs and Culture, Alhaji Abdullahi Bego has said that the state government has taken steps towards ensuring the return of environmental health inspectors known as Duba Gari, accross the state.
The commissioner disclosed this to newsmen while he led a delegation of sensitization team on Lassa fever to the Emir of Bade in Gashua in Bade Local Government Area of the state.
According to him, many years ago they used to have those environmental health inspectors that visited the household on a regular basis and ensured that basic hygiene was maintained in those houses.
“Our health officers are on the team to brief the Emir on the dangers of the disease about the sign and symptom and what to do to ensure that we don’t have any outbreak.
“This is reason that we are here, because we want to ask his Highness for support, because we are going to reach all the nook and corner of the state to all wards and the rural areas.
“We want to make sure that message from the traditional institutions also reached every one,” Bego said.
He further said government would take the message down to the grassroots, ensure that people are well informed, well educated and well enlightened about disease.
