Katsina State Government has slashed its 2020 budget by 40 per cent in line with global economic situation.
The budget was slashed from N240 billion to N215 billion to be funded by small interest loan from Central Bank of Nigeria and sale of bonds.
The state Commissioner of Budget and Economic Development, Farouq Lawal Jobe disclosed this to newsmen.
Jobe said the 2020 budget was discussed during the Emergency State Executive Council Meeting and resolved to be review.
He recalled that the Federal Government had reviewed its budget from oil bench mark of $57 per barrel to $30 per barrel.
Jobe explained that the reviewed budget of the state would soon be forwarded to the state Assembly for passage.
He said the state government has made a provision of N2 billion for treatment of Coronavirus and other diseases.
