Kano State Deputy Governor, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna has assured of the state government’s continued support to the state-owned radio station towards delivering its policies to achieve the desired objectives.

He gave the assurance at the swearing-in ceremony of the new executives of the Radio Kano Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) held last week at the premises of the station.

He commended the entire staff of the organization for their contribution to the administration of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on its developmental programmes in the state.

The deputy governor, who was represented by the Managing Director of the state Printing Press, Alhaji Adamu Garba Mustapha, had congratulated the new executives, urging them to double efforts towards promoting government policies and programmes.

Speaking at the occasion, the state Commissioner of Information, Comrade Muhammad, represented by the state NUJ chairman, Comrade Abbas Ibrahim, congratulated the new executives, appealing to them to be fair and justice in discharging their responsibilities.

He advised working journalists in the state to conduct their practices in accordance with the ethics, saying journalists have vital role to play in the development of the society, commending the existing relationship between the government and the union.

In his remarks, the Managing Director of the radio station, Malam Ghali Sadik, represented by Director Administration and General Services, Hajiya Hauwa Muhammad Fagge, thanked the state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for his support and encouragement to the station towards improving its services, assuring to continue its contribution to promote administration’s development initiatives.

She appealed to individuals and organisations to continue to patronise the station in order to be able to maintain its standard as mother station in the state.

In his speech, the new chairman of the chapel, Comrade Nura Bala Ajingi promised to improve the good understanding between members of the chapel and the management towards achieving the desired objectives, calling on them to be law abiding in practicing their profession.

Earlier speaking, the outgoing chairman, Comrade Sa’adu Sule Dukawa thanked the chapel members for giving him mandate to serve for six years in office.

The new executives sworn-in include Maryam Muhammad Yakasai, Vice Chairman; Abdulsalam Na’iya Gwammaja, Treasurer; Rukayya Umar, Assistant Secretary; Muhammad Sani Ado, Financial Secretary; Jamilu Sani Darma and Auditor Halima Sarki.
