*As state targets 1million youths in 4 years *Over 700,000 3 years

In its effort to boost the socio-economic development of its youths, Kano state government has disbursed the sum of over N137million to the 6, 873 petty traders doing their businesses at various motor parks across the 44 Local Government Areas of the state.
Speaking at the function held at Sani Abacha Indoor Sports Complex, the State Governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje said the state government has earmarked hundreds of millions of Naira for various empowerment programmes for the teeming youths and women in the state. He also said that the empowerment of the motor park traders is aimed at encouraging them to boost their businesses with a view to increasing the socio-economic development of the state.
He further said that the empowerment programmes made by his administration are aimed at reducing unemployment in the state targeting one million youths in four years. He noted that his administration has so far empowered over 700, 000 youths in various trades and vocational skills in the state in just three years of his administration.
He said the programmes of his administration of ‘Matasa Madogara’ will be continued in order to make the teeming populace in the state stand on their feet as well as become self-reliant. He then assured that the people who were being selected for the empowerment are the people who are doing their businesses in the various motor parks in the state.
Earlier in his welcome remark, the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftainncy Affairs, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo said the present administration under the leadership of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje had selected 6, 873 petty traders from the various motor parks across the 44 local governments with a view to empowering them with capital of N20, 000 each after receiving training.
In his remark, Commissioner of Information, Malam Muhammad Garba said that the administration of Governor Ganduje has delivered in terms of infrastructural development and socio-economic well-being of the people in the state.
The Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II who was represented by the Danmajen Kano, Malam Yahaya Inuwa Abbas commended Governor Ganduje for his remarkable contribution to the development of youths in the state.
“Your good gesture did not come to us as a surprise considering your history in the civil service in both the state and Abuja where you worked and gave a lot of contribution to the development of Kano state during that time.” He then commended the governor for the completion of abandoned projects left by his predecessors. Some of the beneficiaries Malam Shehu Abdullahi Toranke and Murtala Musa thanked the Governor Ganduje for the wonderful gesture of empowering the youths, promising to use the money as a genuine capital meant to boost their businesses and become self-reliant.
