*Another one to Pillars Para-soccer team
Kano State Government has spent over N25 million to facilitate the successful conduct of Qur’anic Musabaqa at local government, zonal and state levels.
The State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje disclosed this while presenting the key of a 30-seater Coaster bus donated by the state government to the Musabaqa Committee at Government House, recently.
Ganduje who was represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna said N15, 800, 000.00 was given to the 44 local governments to conduct the Qur’anic Musabaqa at the local government and zonal levels, while N10million was handed over to the State Committee for the ongoing Qur’anic Musabaqa at the state level.
He also said: “To improve Islamiyya and Qur’anic education in the state government has equally established Kano State Qur’anic and Islamiyya Schools Management Board under which the Musabaqa Committee operates.” Ganduje said he was particularly impressed with the performance of Kano indigenes at several Musabaqa competitions at state, national and international levels, attributing the victory to the dedication of the Musabaqa Committee.
He further explained that in an effort to facilitate easy movement by the Musabaqa Committee in the cause of its day-to-day activities, the state government decided to donate a 30-seater Coaster bus to the Committee in the state. Ganduje also charged the State Musabaqa Committee to redouble its effort to win the Musabaqa trophy in the next competition, assuring the state’s willingness to assist in that regard at all times.
Responding on behalf of the Musabaqa Committee, the State Chairman of the Committee, Dr. Habibu Gwarzo thanked the state government for the usual support given to it, adding that there is no word to express their gratitude to the governor for the gesture. In a related development, the state government has donated an 18-seater Hiace bus to the Kano Pillars Para-soccer team with a view to encouraging and easing the transportation problems so as to excel at various comeutitions.
Presenting the key team, the State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna assured that the state government will continue to give sports priority for the team to achieve the desired objective. Earlier in his remark, the Executive Chairman of the State Sports Commission, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima had hinted that the Kano Pillars Para-soccer team had recorded achievements especially with their recent performance at National Parasoccer League competition held in Lagos.
Galadima said that arrangements have reached advance stage in preparations for the 19th edition of the National Sports Festival scheduled to hold between 6th and 16th December in Abuja.
