KNSG confiscates millions of Naira expired drugs

Kano State Taskforce on Fake and Counterfeit Drugs and Unwholesome Processes, Miscellaneous Committee under the State Ministry of Health, has impounded about two trucks of fake drugs in 147 cartoons stored in an uncompleted house located at UnguwarDabai in Dala Local Government Area.
Briefing the media shortly after the operation, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa said the committee got the information from a good Samaritan who briefed them about the irregular and syndicate movement conducted within the area by unknown persons which drew the attention of people in the area.
The Commissioner who was represented by the Director Pharmaceutical Services, Hospitals Management Board, Pharm. Ghali Sule restated government’s willingness to continue to sanitise the State of fake, illicit and abuse substances mostly consumed by youths and married women in the society.
He said part of the measures carried out by the present administration to address rampant cases of fake drugs and drug abuse is the plan to move the selling of drugs from Sabon Gari Market to its permanent site at Dangwauro in Kumbotso Local Government Area.
The Commissioner also enjoined well-meaning individuals to complement government efforts in this direction to ensure a free-drugs society through informing the committee at the state Ministry of Health for effective, quick response.
