Katsina State Government is to embark on training of Qur’anic school pupils (Almajirai) to make them self-reliant.
Katsina to train Almajiri on self-employment
From Mu’awuya Bala Idris, Katsina
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Mustapha Mohammed Inuwa revealed this shortly after receiving 148 Almajirai from Gombe State.
Dr. Inuwa explained that Qur’anic pupils would be trained by Department of Craft Village and would be given assistance to set up businesses.
He reminded parents of the deported children that their wards could obtain better education under their care.
The SSG explained that very soon, the state government would deport any non indigene Almajirai to their respective states.
Inuwa said unlike Kano State, which earlier contacted government before deporting the Almajiris, Gombe State sent the second batch without advance notice.
He said the Almajirai received from Gombe would be screened to identify their health status and accommodate them at NYDC Camp.
Inuwa said very soon, they would be transported to their local government areas.
It could be recalled that last week, Kano State Government handed over a total of 149 Almajiris to the Katsina State Government.
