Katsina State has recorded a death of a patient who contracted coronavirus.

The victim was a medical practitioner in the state and owned a private clinic.

Governor Aminu Bello Masari of the state confirmed the story.

The name of the victim was given as Dr. Aliyu Yakubu, an indigene of Kogi State.

He died on Saturday at Air force Referral Hospital, Daura in Daura Local Government Area of the state.

He died two hours after he was admitted at the hospital.

He was said to have traveled to Kogi State from where he went to Lagos and then came back to Daura.

Noticing his health condition three days after returning from Lagos, he took himself to the hospital at Daura where he died.

Governor Masari, while confirming the death, also said already a medical team has been deployed to trace those the deceased had contact with with a view to taking necessary measures to contain the spread of the disease following the death.

The National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) was said to have taken sample of the deceased and found it positive thus leading to his death following the covid-19 pandemic.

He died at the age of 60 years.
