Katsina, Daura cancel Sallah festivities

Katsina and Daura Emirates have announced cancellation of all Sallah festivities.
In a letter addressed to the Secretary to the State Government which was signed by Katsina Emirate Council’s secretary, Alhaji Bello Mamman Ifo, the Emirate cancelled all forms of Sallah celebration, including horse riding and traditional visit to Katsina Government House among others.
According to the letter, the Emirate was worried about rising cases of Covid-19 pandemic and banditry activities, which necessitated the cancellation of the festivities.
The letter entitled ‘Cancellation of Eid Kabir Sallah Festivities for the year 2020,’ said the decision was taken after a meeting chaired by the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman and his senior councilors.
The Emirate directed people of the state to continue to observe protocols related to Covid-19 to minimize rising cases of the diseases.
It called on the people to continue to pray for a lasting solution to armed banditry activities.
