The end of polio virus has been brought in Kano State through special intervention of the state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

The head of Primary Health Care (PHC) of Dala Local Government Area of the state, Malam Hussaini Adamu, made the assertion in an interview with newsmen in Kano recently.

Malam Adamu, who spoke on behalf of the chairman of the larger body of leaders of the PHC across the 44 local government areas of the state, Malam Sabiu Usaini, said the governor was up and doing as he has been doing the needful to rid the state of the virus completely.

He said at local level, health officials were adequately equipped to perform their duties effectively especially in the area of the fight against polio in the state.

According to him, all stakeholders in the state were involved in the crusade against the disease, stating that traditional title holders ranging from district heads down to village and ward heads were engaged fully in the exercise.

Malam Adamu said the state government has also developed the spirit of meeting with the traditional institution regularly on how best to avoid spread of diseases in the state.

He thanked Governor Ganduje for his concern on the plight of the people of the state across various sectors of human endeavours, particularly the health sector.
