Kano Emirate: Ganduje appoints Bayero new emir

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State has approved the appointment of the former emir of Bichi, Alhaji Ado Bayero, as the new emir of Kano Emirate Council.
The announcement was made by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, on Monday Afternoon.
This is following a resolution by the Kano State Executive Council, on Monday, with regards to the deposition of the former Emir.
The decision was based on the power confered on the govenor by the provision of Section 11 Sub-section 1 of the Kano Emirates Law 2019, Alhaji Usman Alhaji said.
The secretary to the state government added that the state government was acting based on the recommendation of the kingmakers of the Kano Emirate Council.
With his appointment as the new emir, Aminu Ado Bayero is the 15th emir of the Fulani Dynasty.
Until his appointment as the new emir of Kano Emirate, Aminu Ado Bayero was the emir of Bichi Emirate.
He was appointed emir of Bichi last year after the creaction of additional four Emirates of Karaye, Rano, Bichi and Gaya in the state.
Earlier Monday morning, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State had approved the immediate removal of the Emir of Kano Emirate, Muhammadu Sanusi ll.
The state government said the former emir was in total disrespect to lawful instructions from the office of the state governor and other lawful authorities, the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji said.
Alhaji Usman Alhaji further disclosed that the emir had persistently refused to attend official meetings and programmes organized by the state government.
