Kano State Task Force on Covid-19 has continued to interface with the Presidential Task Force (PTF) in order to contain the spread of the virus in the state.

The PTF under the leadership of Dr. Nasiru Sani Gwarzo, has been in Kano under President Muhammadu Buhari’s instruction to support the state in its fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
The state Coordinator Technical Response Team, who is also the Executive Secretary, Primary Health Care Management Board, Dr. Tijjani Hussain, during the meeting, had updated the PTF team on the state government response as well as its untiring efforts towards containing and managing the pandemic, including establishment of isolation centers, provision of equipment and services among others.
During the meeting, representative from the six thematic pillars of the Task Force also briefed the PTF on their mandates, efforts so far and the challenges they were facing.
The thematic pillars or sub committees include Surveillance, Logistics, IPC, Laboratory, Risk Communication and Case Management.
Also the acting co-chairman, who is the Director General of the state Drugs and Medical Consumable Supply Agency, Pharm. Hisham Imamu Deen, said that the state government has procured large quantities of PPES, face mask and drugs consumables which are used in the treatment of index cases and prevention of staff from contacting the disease in all the 10 programme centers.
In his remarks, the team leader, Dr. Gwarzo, commended the effort of the state government, assuring that they would continue to support the state in the fight against the pandemic, a statement by the spokesperson of the state Ministry of Health, Hadiza M. Namadi has revealed.
