Kano apprehends quack doctor
The Kano State Private Health Institution Management Agency (PHIMA) under the State Ministry of Health, in a joint operation with the Nigerian Medical Association [NMA] Kano branch, has apprehended a quack doctor, named Ibrahim Adamu who for many years claimed to be a licenced doctor.
Speaking to pressmen shortly after the arrest, the Executive Secretary PHIMA,Dr.Usman Tijjani Aliyu said they had been following the suspect for long but all efforts to establish professional fakeness were aborted until now, because he had been moving from hospitals to clinics in the State and even in neighbouring states.
Dr.Usman further said already, the suspect is in police custody for further investigation, revealing that at the police station the fake doctor confessed that the original owner of the document is a medical doctor seeking for job at Ideal Hospital where the suspect was earlier working as a staff and used the opportunity to steal the documents for impersonation and other devious acts.
According to the Executive Secretary, previous reports revealed that the suspect was once apprehended and prosecuted by the same agency in 2014, at Koki Magistrate Court and was jailed for the same offence, assuring that PHIMA and NMA this time around they will make sure that they follow the case closely until he is dealt with squarely so as to serve as a deterrent to others, according to a statement by Ismail Garba Gwammaja, the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry.
