Jigawa commissioner for Commerce and Industry and Tourism Alhaji Aminu Sidi ‘Yanleman has revealed that the state government has expended a total of N18 million to obtain license for 25 mining groups in the state.


Alhaji Sidi, who disclosed this to The Triumph in Dutse during an interview said that the miners were indigenes of the state and now have the licenses to engage in mining activities in any part of the country.


He explained that the registration to obtain license for the miners who are mainly indigenes of the state followed Federal Government decision to prosecute any illegal miner in the country.


The commissioner explained further that there are 50 members in each of the groups, pointing out that more groups have applied for the registration soliciting for the state government to assist them in their bid to get registered.


He noted that the state government has converted the 25 groups that secured the licenses into a cooperative society.
